THE PLAQUES
Also in the Nave and in the Chancel are an array of plaques that were made and presented by Stewart Trentowsky over a period of ten years. On either side of the Altar , there are plaques for New Brunswick on one side, and Nova Scotia-Prince Edward Island on the other. Over the choir stalls on either side, and continuing down either side of the Nave, the top crests are those of the Dioceses of England, twelve on the right side and thirteen on the left as you face the Altar.
At the head of the Nave beside the pillars, on the left is the crest representing the Anglican Church of Canada, and on the right, is the crest representing the Episcopal Church of the United States. Beginning on the right side, under the crest for the Episcopalian Church of the U.S., are the symbols of the English Saints Gabriel, St. Patrick, St. Edward the Martyr, St. George, St. Joseph of Arimathea, St. Andrew, St. Philip, St. Peter, and St. Jude. On the opposite side, beginning at the Chancel, are St. Wilfred, St. Olaf, St. Dunstan, St. Columba, St. Andrew, St. Simon, St. James, St. Thomas, and St. Matthias.
Facing the West door. are some plaques representing the ten tribes of Israel. Reading from left to right, the crests are symbols for Levites, Gad, Issachar, Dan, Zebulun, Judah, Ephriam and Zara -Juda and House of David. To the right of the doors are The House of Zara-Judah, Manasseh, Reuben, Benjamin, Simeon, Naphtai and Joseph.
Over the arch in the Baptistry is the crest of Saint John the Baptist. The crest of the Westminster Abbey is above the stained glass windows in the Baptistry also. In the All Saint's Chapel is the All Saint's crest.
Mr. Trentowsky also donated the flags of the City of Saint John and New Brunswick which are below the Baptistry.
