Job Posting - Parish Nurse

Parish Nurse

Reporting to the Rector through the Parish Health Ministry Team, the Parish Nurse is an integral member of the Ministry Team and provides care of the whole person - body, mind and spirit. As this is an initial appointment, the person is building a new ministry which will ultimately be developed and involve the following key roles.

Key Roles

  • Health Counsellor
    On an individual basis, counsels and coaches parishioners, families, the Parish Health Ministry Team and staff
  • Health Educator
    Plans and implements health education programs
  • Health Advocate
    Acts as advocate/liaison for individual parishioners to access health and hospital services
  • Spiritual Counsellor
    As part of the Ministry Team supports parishioners during illness, emotional trauma and managing life crises and changes
  • Resource Referral
    Working with Support Ministries and the Ministry Team, develops a health resources directory
  • Coordinator, Small Groups
    Organizes innovative health support groups that are responsive to "whole life" needs (body, mind and spirit)

Qualifications

  • Living commitment to the Christian faith and vision and mission of Trinity Church, of knowing God the Father, following Jesus the Son and growing in the Holy Spirit
  • Registered Nurse, Baccalaureate degree preferred but not essential
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete the New Brunswick Basic Nursing Ministry Education Program, sponsored by Trinity Church
  • Experience in acute care, community health, mental health, geriatric nursing; pediatric experience desirable
  • Competence in health/nursing assessments, spiritual assessments, spiritual counselling
  • Knowledge and proficiency in program development, delivery and evaluation
  • Leadership gifts/skills and a passion for health ministry
  • Highly motivated and resourceful with ability to motivate others
  • Team player
  • Effective communicator with excellent oral and written skills
  • Computer skills with knowledge of MS Office programs

Employment Terms

  • Salaried position - part time with flexible work schedule
  • Proof of current registration with the New Brunswick Association of Registered Nurses
  • Proof of nursing liability insurance (minimum $1 million)
  • Attends Sunday worship services and participates in community life of Trinity Church
  • Valid New Brunswick drivers license
  • Current police records check
